Participated in AKB48′s Tohoku Earthquake relief efforts
- Before auditioning for AKB48, the earthquake striked her house and she had to live in a shelter for a few days
- Was part of the single Hana wa Saku produced by NHK World. The song featured celebrities, musicians, and athletes from the areas the Tohoku Earthquake struck hardest. Karen was the youngest participant and also sang a solo version of the song for the B-side
Cannot handle eating natto
Had a surgery on her nose because of breathing problems that began after an accident she had when as a child
Is a big fan of Shingeki no Kyojin and often cosplays as Mikasa Ackerman for handshake events
After her graduation she played the leading role "Maria" in in the musical "Maria to Midori no Princess (マリアと緑のプリンセス)", together with Yamauchi Mizuki who played "Eliza junior", before the latter joined AKB48 as a 16th generation member.
On March 8, 2019, she suffered a car accident in Tokyo due to a broken bone, and she was unable to attend the shooting of the 8th Anniversary program of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan on March 11, 2019.
